Woodland Cemetery
Nestled in the pine forests south of Stockholm, the Woodland Cemetery (Skogskyrkogården) is a masterclass in the quiet power of architecture and landscape working in harmony. Designed by Gunnar Asplund and Sigurd Lewerentz and completed in 1940, the masterplan is an immersive experience in spatial composition, light, and shadow. This wintertime tour of the grounds and buildings followed the forest paths from one chapel to the next focusing on geometry, perspective and symmetry.
